A skipper with THE story
A sailor to the bone with +25 years of experience sailing the Adriatic and Mediterranean and with a recent circumnavigation in his wake, Saša is a true salty dog at age of 40.
Always considering boat safety and comfort of the crew as a priority, he is a reliable and trustworthy skipper who will take care of the craft and make sure the crew has good time. After all, sailing is fun when done right!
CROATIA based, available worldwide
Based in Mali Lošinj, Croatia, an Adriatic island proud of a long sailing history, I’m highly mobile and can board a vessel anywhere in the world. Sailing around Adriatic over past 25 years, I have a detailed knowledge of Adriatic coast, it’s moody winds, chain of gem islands and their hidden coves.
Familiar with major Mediterranean ports and numerous harbours around the globe, I have experience in successfully clearing in the boat and the crew in +20 countries (including Australia, New Zealand and Brazil), always playing it by the rules, even at the restrictive and tough for travelling COVID-19 times.
My universe is sea centric and all I do is sailing related. I started early with dinghies and sailing lessons at age 14, got educated in Marine Business Management in Coves, UK and worked my way up in boating industry from deckhand on motor yachts to base management of a sailboat charter base. Then I returned to basics and chose just to sail and skipper the boats, showing people the good time and best of places. That’s where I find most joy and satisfaction, that’s where I excel.
I love to share my experience. Founder and editor of once leading sailing news portal, I was host for VOR and Vendee Globe broadcasting in Croatia. Since 2014 I blog about boat restoration and circumnavigation in Croatian and English.
I love to introduce people to sailing. Co-founder of the Sailing Club Dobro more in Zagreb, I taught sailing basics to 6 generations of new sailors, introducing them to navigation through basic and advanced sailing courses.
I simply love everything about the boats. Built my first boat in 2010, restored another one in 2016. and repaired it dozens of times while circumnavigating the world. I can handle a quirky old timer as well as deliver a bareboat with equal enthusiasm and responsability.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
– Andrea Pančur, Poreč
– Milivoj Pejić, Zagreb
– Anamarija Žanko, Split
I’ve been dreaming of ocean sailing since I read Moitessier. A month aboard HIR 3, sailing from Nouvelle Caledonie via Vanuatu to Fiji, was my dream come true. We’ve had true offshore experience, rough seas in +40 knots of wind, but I always felt safe.
Saša is the only guy I can imagine sailing even longer than a month since he is so quiet and kind.
– Nelson Rabak, Pula
I’ve been on the boats before, but I never sailed before Saša & HIR 3. When the sails filled with wind and the engine went off, the loud sound of silence was overwhelming. I remember that moment as the one I fell in love with sailing. It is truly therapeutical and one should prescribe sailing against everyday stress and anxiety.
– Marina Đukanović, Mali Lošinj
I’ve sailed with Saša twice – my 1st sailing experience and my 1st offshore. Both times there was a great spirit aboard, despite the fact we all just met. As a skipper, Saša is extremely patient, tolerant and flexible. He himself makes a good company which is prerequisite for the above mentioned good vibe. Saša has a vast sailing knowledge and loves to share it, so one can really learn a lot.
Aboard HIR 3 I felt like at my own boat. She is modest but provides enough comfort and a very close touch with the sea.
– Helie Weissenbacher, Šibenik
Sailing aboard HIR 3 was my 1st ever. After a week, I discovered a passion for sailing I never knew. Ever since sailboats have been my favourite getaway from busy life and tranquilisers. Saša played a major role there – calm and relaxed, he moved around the deck as if it was a living room. I’m forever grateful to him for broadening my sea views beyond the beach and glimpsing at the islands in the distance, inciting the love for sailing.
